Pastor John Maroni
Congregations in Transition Coordinator
Pastor John began serving as the Congregations in Transition Coordinator in 2025. In addition to serving the Grand Canyon Synod, John is pastor at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church in Sun City, Arizona. Pastor John received his Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and was ordained in 2005. He served ELCA congregations as first call pastor in Greenford, Ohio, two-point pastor in Sandyville/Baltic Ohio, and pastor in Eaton, Colorado. John lives in Peoria, Arizona with his wife, Lisa, who teaches Second Grade at Paseo Verde Elementary School, and their pastel-calico cat, Kriya.
