Speakers Confirmed for Lutheran Advocacy Day

Lutherans from across the state will gather at the Arizona Capitol Rose Garden for a day of advocacy on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 8:30–10:30 am MST to learn, to witness, and voice our common needs in the public square, activating our faith in love.

Speakers include Bishop Hutterer, Speaker of the House Russell “Rusty” Bowers, Rep. Jennifer Longdon, LSS-SW President Connie Phillips, and Hunger Advocacy Coalition Partners, including Arizona Food Bank Network, Bread for the World, WHEAT, Pinnacle Prevention, and more!

Bishop Hutterer: Another January, another Covid surge

The wave of Omicron infections that is overwhelming health care systems across America is now rapidly rising in our synod. All of us know more and more people affected by Covid-19.

No one is more affected by this most recent tide of cases those folk toiling in the health care fields. These people and systems—strained to their limit over the last two years—are at their breaking point.

Many of you may have received an email supposedly from Bishop Hutterer that she wants to speak with you urgently but is going into a meeting and to email her. Please do NOT respond to that email – it is not from her official email address, and is a scam.

We’re including and adapting a scam awareness PDF created by the Southeastern Iowa synod which has great tips on how to recognize scam text and emails.

The ordination of Lourdes Olson will be Saturday, 1/15/2022, 11am PST, 12pm MST, at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Las Vegas. The Rev. Matthew Metevelis will preach and Bishop Hutterer will preside.

Lourdes has been called to serve New Song Lutheran in Henderson.

The Rev. Dr. Mari Larson will be installed as Associate Pastor on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at St. Andrew's Lutheran in Las Vegas at the 8:30 and 10:00 AM worship services. The Rev. Deborah K. Hutterer, Bishop of the Grand Canyon Synod, will preside over the installation and preach.

Pastor Doug Dill will be installed at Central Lutheran in Arizona City during 9 am worship, Sunday, 12/12/2021. Bishop Hutterer will preach and preside.
