Welcoming Chaplain Capt Matthew W. Dobyns to the 2024 Synod Assembly
We are privileged to announce that Chaplain Capt Matthew W. Dobyns will be joining us at the 2024 Synod Assembly under the theme "Embody the Word." As a Unit Chaplain currently assigned to an AFSOC Unit in the United States Air Force, Chaplain Dobyns brings a unique blend of spiritual leadership, ethical guidance, and resiliency programming to his role, making him a perfect fit for our gathering.
Chaplain Dobyns has been serving in the Air Force since June 2015, starting his career with a direct commission into the Air Force Reserve. He transitioned to active duty in 2018 and is proudly endorsed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). His experiences provide him with a deep understanding of the spiritual and ethical needs of military personnel and their families.
At the assembly, Chaplain Dobyns will share insights from his extensive experience in pastoral counseling, religious accommodation, and the development of resiliency programs within the military. His work ensures the free exercise of religion and supports mental and spiritual readiness among service members.
Join us in welcoming Chaplain Dobyns, who will undoubtedly enrich our discussions and inspire our community with his dedication to faith, leadership, and service.
