Continued Commitment and Collaboration: The Impact of the Northeast Valley Consortium
The Northeast Valley Consortium (NEVC) continues their meaningful community service and interfaith collaboration in our synod. In this post we share an update on the achievements and upcoming projects spearheaded by NEVC.
Over the past year, the NEVC has successfully outfitted over 18 apartments for Afghan refugee families, demonstrating a profound commitment to offering sanctuary and stability to those in dire need. Through concerted efforts, they have also raised over $30,000 for LSS-SW emergency support, aiding the first wave of Afghan evacuees as they transition to life in our community.
Ongoing initiatives include providing robust support to Casa de la Misericordia y de Todas las Naciones, which continues to serve as a beacon of hope for numerous families. Additionally, their collaboration with the Paiute Neighborhood Center of Scottsdale supports housing for individuals emerging from homelessness.
Looking forward to 2024, the NEVC is excited to launch an ambitious heat respite project. This year, they aim to distribute 2,600 lunches, along with pallets of water and electrolyte powder—an increase of 2,000 from previous years. This initiative underscores our commitment to safeguarding our community during the challenging summer months.
Moreover, they are in the planning stages of their next faith development seminar and are eager to explore additional collaborative projects that promise to enhance collective impact.
NEVC is grateful for the ongoing support from our community and remains dedicated to strengthening collaborative efforts to serve and uplift all members of our society.
