The Office of the Bishop Will Be Closed for Good Friday
In observance of this holy day, the Office of the Bishop will be closed on Friday, April 18. We invite all in our synod to set aside time for prayer and reflection, whether in worship with your congregation or in quiet devotion wherever you are.
Good Friday reminds us that even in the shadow of the cross, God is at work. The cross is not the end of the story, but it is central to our faith. In Christ’s suffering, we see God’s love poured out for the world. As we accompany Jesus to the cross, we do not rush to Easter morning, but dwell in the tension of grief, injustice, and waiting.
We invite you to join in prayer:
Prayer for Good Friday
O Christ, who bore the cross and gave your life for all,
still our hearts this day.
Help us to see the depth of your love,
to grieve the pain of the world,
and to wait with hope for what is yet to be.
In your holy name we pray, Amen.
May this Good Friday be a time of sacred pause, where we remember what it means to follow Jesus in a world in need of healing and hope.
