Hello Grand Canyon Synod! I am very happy to be serving this year as your contact to the 2024 ELCA National Youth Gathering. I am new to the GCS, serving at Resurrection in Oro Valley since July of 2023. But I am not new to National Gatherings attending my first as a youth in 1991 in Dallas and then taking youth as a youth director, working in the Interaction Center, and helping on a Synodical level in the St. Paul Synod.
Many things have changed throughout the years as the ministry has grown, evolved and responded to the changing needs of the church, the cities and the youth. I look forward to helping our churches and leaders navigate these new waters and experience what it means “Created to Be” as our theme.
Applications are already open for Volunteers (GSC, Servant Companions, Local Volunteers, MYLE & the tAble Volunteers and Young Adult Gathering Volunteers) and registration for churches begins in September. In order for you to get ready for this I will be offering a couple of trainings via Zoom. We will look at what is happening that the Gathering, the theme “Created to Be”, Synod Day, Servant Companion days and a variety of other things.
