Your Guide to Good Order: 2025 Assembly Rules Released
As we prepare to gather for the 2025 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly on June 12–13 in Las Vegas, Nevada, we invite all voting members, visitors, and leaders to review the newly released Rules of Procedure, now available at gcsynod.org/2025/assembly/rules.
These rules help ensure that our time together is faithful, focused, and orderly. Grounded in constitutional provisions and guided by Robert’s Rules of Order, these procedures protect the rights of all participants and enable the smooth conduct of business. A few highlights:
Quorum and Voting: One-half of members constitutes a quorum. Proxy voting is not allowed.
Seating and Identification: Voting members must wear badges and be seated in designated areas.
Electronic Voting: Members should bring a smartphone or tablet to participate in votes.
Amendments and Debate: Debate is limited to 20 minutes per item, with structured processes for proposing amendments and substitutions.
Key dates include the April 28, 2025 deadline for submitting resolutions or memorials. Urgent items submitted after that date require a majority vote of the Assembly for consideration.
As we build up the body of Christ, these procedures help us listen well, speak with purpose, and act faithfully—modeling the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) in all we do.
We encourage every delegate and participant to take a few minutes now to read through the full document, so we can gather in June ready to do the work of the church with care and clarity.
