The recent “Know Your Rights and Congregational Safety” training, organized at the request of Arizona bishops and judicatory leaders, provided critical guidance on protecting faith communities under evolving federal policies. In times of uncertainty, our churches must be informed and prepared.
During the event, immigration attorneys and faith leaders discussed practical steps to safeguard congregations, legal rights under federal policies, and how to respond effectively in emergency situations. Key takeaways included:
✅ Houses of worship are sensitive locations. ICE agents cannot enter private areas without a judicial warrant.
✅ Know your rights. You have the right to remain silent and refuse consent to searches.
✅ Have a plan in place. Establish an emergency phone tree, train key leaders, and practice response drills.

Durante el evento, abogados de inmigración y líderes religiosos explicaron pasos clave para salvaguardar las congregaciones, los derechos legales bajo las políticas federales y cómo responder ante situaciones de emergencia. Algunas conclusiones importantes:
