What’s Love Got to Do With It? Exploring Beloved Community Together

If the question “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” brings Tina Turner’s voice to mind, this gathering might be for you. If not, it’s still for you—because in the Lutheran tradition, we embrace both-and. Join us online on Wednesday, February 5, at 12:00 PM (Mountain Time) for an hour of conversation, reflection, and community-building in Creating Beloved Community: Healing Together, a monthly series hosted by ELCA Coaching.

Led by Rev. Brenda Smith (ELCA), Deacon Tammy Devine (ELCA), and Rev. Candy Holmes (MCC), this gathering continues our journey of exploring where the Spirit is leading us as people of faith. Since 2020, ELCA Coaching has convened faith leaders for deep conversations on Being Church in a time of crisis, which evolved into Courageous Leadership and now focuses on Healing Together—a process rooted in Christ’s model of love and justice.

Inspired by voices like bell hooks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Thich Nhat Hanh, as well as ELCA’s teachings on baptismal covenant, Indigenous healing movements, and ecumenical relations, we seek to cultivate a space where healing happens in communion, not isolation. Whether you are a rostered minister, a lay leader, or simply someone looking for deeper spiritual connection, you belong in this space.

No preparation is required—just come with a spirit of curiosity. If you’re not a “group person,” we invite you to take a small step outside your comfort zone and experience what Beloved Community can offer.
