Understanding Addiction: Webinar with Harvard’s Amanda Sharp
We are excited to announce an invaluable opportunity for all churches within our synod to deepen their understanding of addiction and effective communication strategies. On July 31, 2024, from 10am to 11 am MST/PDT, the Center of Addiction & Faith will present a free, one-hour webinar titled “Addiction & Motivational Interviewing” featuring Amanda Sharp, PhD, MPH.
Amanda Sharp, a teaching associate at Harvard Medical School, brings her extensive experience as a former Public Health Analyst for the federal government at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). She will join Rev. George A. Wood, Author, Speaker, and Pastor at Sober Truth Project, to explore the principles of Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based communication approach that facilitates behavior change through compassion, acceptance, partnership, and evocation. This webinar will provide crucial insights and practical techniques that can be used in pastoral care and community outreach to support those struggling with addiction.
This is an excellent opportunity to equip yourself and your congregation with the tools to foster positive change and support individuals on their journey to recovery. Don’t miss this chance to learn from experts in the field and enhance your ministry’s impact.
