Pastor Kate Adelman, Executive Director with Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission, writes,

In Rock Point, the local windmill wells have been tested and are not safe for human or animal use. Past uranium mining has contaminated the ground water supply in these shallow wells with lead and arsenic. The health of community members, especially the youth and elderly, is threatened by the lack of potable water.”

Our friends at American Lutheran Sun City stepped up to help our community. On January 11, they hosted a Walk for Navajo Water, raising to date $49,659.00 to help Navajo Lutheran Mission restore the deep and potable well on the Mission property.

104 walkers, including 11 Rock Point community members,  and 7 dogs, enjoyed the 5K walk and a weekend of fun. Thank you American! It's not too late to donate: https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=42cb52
