Music Majors Take Note: J.W. Pepper’s 150th Anniversary Scholarship Program Launches

As J.W. Pepper marks its 150th anniversary, it is celebrating in a profoundly impactful way—by launching a scholarship program aimed at nurturing the next generation of music educators. This initiative, emblematic of J.W. Pepper’s commitment to music and education, offers 52 scholarships totaling $156,000. Each scholarship is a stepping stone for students embarking on their journey to become music teachers.

Starting in the fall semester of 2025, 52 aspiring music educators—one from each state, plus Washington, D.C., and a student from the U.S. territories—will be awarded $3,000 to support their first year of college. From these, one exceptional student will receive an additional $10,000 as the top scholar, bringing an extra highlight to their academic and musical journey.

Applications for this significant educational boost open in October 2024, with the scholarships directed towards the recipients’ colleges. This ensures that the funds assist directly with their educational expenses, making a real difference in their academic lives.

This scholarship program not only celebrates J.W. Pepper’s long-standing history but also invests in the future of music education across the United States. We encourage all young musicians from our Lutheran community who are planning to major in music education to apply. This is more than a scholarship; it’s an opportunity to be part of a legacy of musical excellence and educational empowerment.
