Martin Malmberg of Lutheran Social Services of Nevada shares their 2023 Impact Report, highlighting th thousands served in 2023, as well as LSSN’s expansion into two new locations.
I hope you are proud of some of the things that you did in 2023. Take a minute to remember a few people that you served in some way. Maybe you helped a person who wasn’t able to help themselves or defended someone being taken advantage of. Maybe you invited an isolated person to hang out or lifted someone up. Every act of generosity counts. All of us can be ready to encourage others around us this year or next. Here at LSSN we are proud of our 2023 Impact Report. There are many stories of individuals behind the stats. Some were published during our Season of Gratitude at www.lssnv.org.
2023 IMPACT REPORT
This month for Angel Tree we served 253 families with 779 children and 75 senior with Christmas gifts and other services. We had hundreds of people collecting donations and volunteering. We also served 750 families with meals for Thanksgiving.
LSSN case manages 525 families that are at risk of homelessness. 163 households received housing assistance, enabling them to avoid homelessness or become rehoused after short-term homelessness along with other wrap around services. We also served 191 households with Employment Services.
We started two new locations including a satellite at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and at a location in North Las Vegas in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Over 22,945 individuals were served through the Digimart, our digital food pantry, and Mobile Markets. We often serve more than 100 families a day at our Boulder Highway Collaborative.
Over 600,000 pounds of food were distributed, equating to 503,000 meals for those in need.
12,693 free hot meals were provided to seniors through the Heart of the City Senior Meal Program at three locations.
We are excited to announce that our JOURNEY Senior Services Center is going to break ground in 2024 with many new initiatives that serve and empower seniors.
