MUSIC MINISTRY MISSION:
To Be and Make Disciples of Jesus Christ Through Service in Music Ministry
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Serve the Lord through music ministry.
Select appropriate music for the adult choir including anthems, calls to worship, communion music and choral benedictions aligning with scriptures and liturgical order of the ELCA.
Lead the adult choir in providing meaningful/worshipful choir anthems and congregational song leadership.
Lead weekly choir rehearsals as needed to properly prepare music.
Recruit and maintain members of the choir.
Coordinate special music: solos, duets, small groups, and instrumentalists, as needed
Contract with individual musicians, both from within and without the congregation, to provide special music and/or accompaniment.
Purchase and maintain sheet music resources, within budget guidelines.
Select appropriate congregational music for Sunday worship and other special services
Provide timely communication of selected worship music to church office for worship guide/bulletin and PowerPoint creation.
Review and edit worship guide weekly.
Assure compliance with copyright licensing for in-person and streamed worship services.
Collaborate closely with church accompanist/praise band leader, and other musicians.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The choir director leads the choral music ministry of Living Water Lutheran Church. This includes working with the Pastor, accompanist, staff, and lay leaders to develop a well-rounded music ministry for worship services and special events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· A heart for worship and desire to serve the Lord through music ministry
· Minimum of bachelor's degree in music, or 5 years' related experience
· Experience in choral directing, arranging, transposing, accompanying
· Strong leadership skills and desire to work with and inspire volunteers
· High proficiency in vocal technique and music sight-reading
· High proficiency in oral and written communication
· Ability to lead and perform various styles of music
· High level of overall musicianship
