Lifting Up Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Arizona
Today, we uplift and pray for the Lutheran Campus Ministry (LCM) at the University of Arizona in Tucson, a vibrant community dedicated to welcoming and supporting students on their faith journeys. Under the guidance of Rev. Rebecca Boardman, LCM provides a sanctuary of radical hospitality, inclusivity, and spiritual growth for young adults from all walks of life.
For decades, Lutheran Campus Ministry has been a cornerstone of the University of Arizona community, offering a safe and welcoming environment where students can gather for worship, fellowship, and service learning. The ministry’s mission is to meet students wherever they are on their faith journey, regardless of their past or present experience with religion.
A highlight of LCM’s offerings is the Wednesday night gatherings, which run from August 21 to December 11, 2024, at the Youth House of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Each evening begins with a shared meal, followed by casual worship. The ministry’s welcoming space is not just a place to worship but also a home where students can study, cook, and build lasting friendships.
Lutheran Campus Ministry proudly identifies as a Reconciling in Christ community, advocating for the full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ individuals in all aspects of church life. Their commitment to inclusivity is reflected in their mission and their active participation in the LuMin Network and ReconcilingWorks.
As we celebrate the work of LCM, we also recognize the critical role it plays in the broader mission of the Grand Canyon Synod. This ministry is not just about providing a space for worship; it’s about fostering a community where all students feel seen, valued, and loved. We invite you to keep LCM in your prayers and to consider how you might support this vital ministry.
