How to Provide Comfort at the End of Life: A Lutheran Approach
Exploring the Art of Spiritual Care with Deaconess Cheryl Plummer
In our commitment to serving those at the threshold of life and death, you’re invited to an enlightening virtual workshop titled “Spiritual Care of the Dying: The Art of Ministering to Emotional and Spiritual Needs at Time of Death.” This crucial event, hosted by the Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association (LFCNA), will be held via Zoom on August 22, 2024, from 5 to 7 PM MT. View this PDF flyer for more information.
We are honored to have Deaconess Cheryl Plummer, a seasoned hospice chaplain from the SE Michigan Synod, lead this workshop. With over three decades of dedicated service in spiritual care, Cheryl will share invaluable insights into assessing and addressing the spiritual needs of the dying. The session will cover practical tools and techniques, including the innovative “Death Cafe” communication model, which fosters open discussions about death, aimed at easing the emotional and spiritual journey of those nearing their life’s end.
This workshop is not only a learning opportunity but a call to deepen our understanding and enhance our ministry. It is ideal for clergy, faith community nurses, and anyone involved in congregational care or interested in the spiritual dimensions of end-of-life care.
Registration is available now for a fee of $30 for LFCNA members and $50 for non-members, with nursing contact hours available upon completion. Don’t miss this opportunity to enrich your spiritual care skills and better serve your community in their most profound moments of need.
