Grand Canyon Synod is building foundations with Iglesia Luterana Mexicana
The Office of the Bishop is steadily working to build a relationship with the Iglesia Luterana Mexicana (ILM, Mexican Lutheran Church). In an effort to walk with our Lutheran family across the border, we are pursuing a global companion relationship with the eleven congregations throughout Mexico.
There are currently six people on the Mexico Global Engagement Team considering the ways we will show grace and learn more about ministry in Mexico. And we are also working with Paulina A. Dasse, the ELCA Program Director for Relationships in Latin America and the Caribbean, to develop a deep relationship built on mutual respect and grace.
Paulina provided us with some pictures of the pastoral home of the Santisima Trinidad congregation. Due to the damages caused by earthquakes, the state of the foundation of the house was a threat for anyone living in the house. With the joint financial support from many groups, including $10,000 from the Grand Canyon Synod, an architect began the work, and the progress has been significant. The house will be the home of Pastor Yulied Alonso.
