Feed Arizona’s Future: Join AFN’s Hunger and Housing Advocacy This July

Join Forces with the Arizona Faith Network This July to Champion Democracy and Interfaith Understanding

This July, the Arizona Faith Network (AFN) invites our engaged Lutheran community to participate in several impactful events and initiatives designed to protect democratic values and foster interfaith dialogue. As part of the Grand Canyon Synod, we stand together to make a difference in our state and beyond.

Election Protection Efforts

First up, we encourage you to sign up as a Volunteer Poll Monitor with Election Protection Arizona (EPAZ). By assisting voters from registration through Election Day, you’ll ensure a fair voting process, helping everyone from those needing voter IDs to citizens voting from incarceration. Mark your calendars and sign up here to volunteer. Remember to select “Arizona Faith Network” as your referrer.

Webinar on American Christian Nationalism

On July 16, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm via Zoom, AFN will host a webinar titled “American Christian Nationalism and Its Impact on Democracy.” Led by Keith D. Miller, this session will delve into historical and current impacts of nationalism on our democracy. It’s a must-attend for anyone interested in understanding the intersection of faith and governance. RSVP here for participation details.

Advocacy for Hunger and Housing

Join us on July 24 at 6:30 pm for an insightful webinar on hunger and housing issues in Arizona, hosted by Ashley St. Thomas from the AZ Food Bank Network. Learn valuable advocacy strategies and prepare for upcoming legislative challenges in 2025. This session is pivotal for those looking to engage in state-level advocacy. Secure your spot now.

Heat Relief Initiatives

In response to Arizona’s severe heat waves, AFN is mobilizing faith communities to support vulnerable populations. Last year’s record temperatures led to significant hardships, and your involvement can literally save lives. Learn more about how you can help here.

Summer of Listening Campaign

Lastly, don’t miss out on the “Summer of Listening: Building Bridges for a Stronger Interfaith Community” initiative. Through this campaign, we aim to foster deeper understanding and cooperation among different faith groups. Participate in our community survey and help us tailor our efforts to the real needs of our diverse communities. Take the survey now.

These initiatives reflect our Lutheran values of compassion, justice, and community engagement. Join us as we act on our faith in meaningful ways this summer.
