Extending Our Lenten Commitments to Creation Care Beyond the Season
As Lent draws to a close, our focus on self-reflection and renewal doesn't have to end. Lutherans Restoring Creation invites us to continue our journey of caring for God’s creation throughout the year. Read Lutherans Restoring Creation’s March Good Green News here.
This March, we're encouraged to join the upcoming Connections Call on March 19th to discuss our Lenten practices of creation care and explore ways to sustain our commitment to God and Creation year-round.
But the conversation doesn't stop there. On April 16th, 2024, the National Faith + Climate Forum offers an invaluable opportunity to deepen our understanding and engage our congregations in meaningful action for creation care. This event, hosted by Blessed Tomorrow, allows for flexible participation, whether in-person across the US or online, making it accessible to all.
Moreover, LRC keeps us informed about the ELCA’s proactive role in global climate discussions, with resources like the recorded webinar on COP28, shedding light on how faith communities can contribute to vital environmental initiatives.
As we move into April and beyond, LRC continues to offer resources, including a Synod-Wide Creation-Care Guide, and opportunities for us to honor God's Creation, especially around Earth Day. By sharing our actions, joining network events, and supporting LRC, we make a tangible difference in the world God entrusts to our care.
This year, let’s transform our Lenten discipline into a lifelong commitment to creation care, leveraging the strength of our faith community to foster a just, equitable, and sustainable world. Read Lutherans Restoring Creation’s March Good Green News here.
