Explore Healing-Centered Leadership in ELCA’s Free Equity Workshop on September 18
Dear Faith Leaders,
On Wednesday, 9/18/2024, 9 – 11:30 am PDT/MST, 10am – 12:30pm MDT, we invite you to join us in participating in the third of a four-part series, Advancing Equity: Applying Healing-centered Engagement to your Leadership Practice: Pivot #3: VISION. Advance registration required. All four workshops are provided at NO financial cost to participants! (Recordings of prior workshops can be found at the same link.)
"Join us for a new four-part series hosted through the Faith, Families and Community Partnerships Initiative — a collaboration between Lutheran Services in America and ELCA World Hunger. Built on the seminal work of scholar and practitioner Dr. Shawn Ginwright, our expert facilitators, Dr. Denicia Carlay and Shannon Scott, will guide us through the practice of healing-centered engagement. The workshop series is designed to support the application of the practice through the four dimensions or 'pivots' necessary in our work to improve outcomes for children, youth, families and communities." https://lutheranservices.org/event_date/equity-workshop-series/
And as shared by our ministry partner Vance Blackfox with ELCA Indigenous Ministries and Tribal Relations:
Based on the work of scholar and practitioner Dr. Shawn Ginwright, the series will take us beyond trauma-informed care responses to a “more holistic approach to fostering well-being.” The series will educate us on how “trauma and healing are experienced collectively” and how to apply this learning to support improved well-being for families and communities.
This series is especially relevant if your ministry includes engagement of diverse children, youth, and families to strengthen social and economic outcomes, including poverty alleviation and economic empowerment, affordable housing access, refugee resettlement, and child welfare.
To clarify, we are not hosting Courageous Leadership on September 18 and will resume on September 25 to unpack and wrestle together with learnings from this workshop, with a majority of our focus on the third section of Dr. Ginwright's book -- The Four Pivots: Reimagining Justice, Reimagining Ourselves -- the Vision Pivot: From Problem To Possibility. Mark your calendar and register for the other workshop as well, as we plan to repeat this pattern on December 11 (and December 18).
In holy disruption,
