Embody the Word: Join Us for the 2024 Bishop’s Fall Gathering

You are invited to join Bishop Deborah Hutterer for the 2024 Bishop’s Fall Gathering, taking place from Monday, October 21, to Wednesday, October 23, at the serene Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center in Carefree, AZ. This year’s theme, “Embody the Word,” inspired by Luke 18:1, invites us to explore the power of storytelling in ministry, prayer, and community building.

We are honored to welcome two special guests: Rev. Andrea Roske-Metcalfe of Diamond Lake Lutheran Church and Elder Pershlie “Perci” Ami, a Hopi/Tewa grandmother, author, and storyteller. Rev. Andrea will lead us through three engaging sessions focused on the craft of storytelling in the church, offering practical insights and hands-on opportunities to deepen our ministry. Elder Perci will share her wisdom and stories, rooted in her rich cultural heritage, that inspire healing and connection.

This gathering is open to all active rostered ministers, retired pastors actively serving congregations, seminary students, and those in internships. We encourage you to stay at the retreat center to fully immerse yourself in this time of worship, learning, and fellowship. Rooms are limited, so be sure to register by Friday, September 13, 2024, to secure your spot.
