Discover the Divine: Spirit in the Desert’s National Parks Film Series
Who doesn't love Ken Burns? This summer, Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center invites you to embark on a spiritual journey through America's national parks with our special four-session summer film series. Whether you're visiting the parks in person or admiring them from afar, this series will explore the profound connections we feel with both the Divine Mystery and the Earth. Each session features stunning video clips from Ken Burns’s popular film on the national parks, bringing the beauty and spirituality of these natural wonders right to your screen.
Join us on the 4th Thursday of May, June, July, and August at 4:00 PM AZ (MST) for an enriching exploration facilitated by Sheri Brown. Here’s what you can expect:
Session 1 (May 23): Introduction to the series, discussing the creation of national parks and how they can reconnect us with our natural roots.
Session 2 (June 27): Exploration of the Divine Mystery in national parks and nature more broadly.
Session 3 (July 25): Reflection on human impact, both positive and negative, on the national parks and the Earth.
Session 4 (August 22): Evolution of the National Park System from recreation grounds to preservers of natural systems, and how we can broaden our vision of the Divine presence to include all of creation.
