Defending Democracy: The Forgotten Luther IV Conference

In a time when democracy faces rising threats, particularly from the surge of Christian Nationalism, Lutherans are called to reflect deeply on our role as disciples in society. This October, the Grand Canyon Synod invites you to participate in an essential gathering—Forgotten Luther IV: Discipleship in a Democracy. This conference will be held from Friday, October 25 to Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The conference will feature a powerful lineup of speakers, including The Honorable Jamie Raskin, Amanda Tyler of Christians Against Christian Nationalism, and leaders from the ELCA such as Roger Willer and Amy Reumann. International voices, including Michael Grzonka from Germany and Bruk Ayele Asale from Ethiopia, will also share their perspectives on this critical issue. Additionally, we will receive a special message from The Rev. Elizabeth Eaton, Presiding Bishop of the ELCA.
