Congratulations to Servant of Christ Award Winners!
Congrats to New Spirit Lutheran Church, Tucson, and All Saints Lutheran Church, Phoenix! They have truly shown the love of our Savior and embodied the mission of Lutheran Social Services—showing kindness, doing justice, and serving those in need.
Since its inception in 1970, Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest has striven to meet the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors with compassion and love. But answering God’s call to serve has made one thing abundantly clear: they couldn’t do it without the help of dedicated congregations such as yours.
That’s why, each year they get the chance to recognize outstanding congregations with the Servant of Christ Award. These faithful groups not only embody a spirit of service, but prove that we can do more together than we ever could do alone. We are grateful for your leadership.
New Spirit Lutheran Church-Tucson
A steadfast partner of LSS-SW, New Spirit Lutheran Church has been passionate in helping isolated seniors in their homes as well as foster families. Adding to their good works, New Spirit was a champion for refugee resettlement in Tucson and were a major supporter of family reunification last summer. Their extra gift allowed families to be safely cared for. We are thankful for your passion, hard work, and unconditional service to so many.
All Saints Lutheran Church-Phoenix
Unique in its diverse support, All Saints is an office site of our Emergency Services program and is continually opening their doors to the most vulnerable in our city. With outstretched arms they have embraced our neighbors from around the globe by welcoming and co-sponsoring countless refugee families. They have also been a crucial support in LSS-SW’s Reception & Welcome program, which aims to help asylum seekers upon their arrival in the U.S. We are forever grateful for your compassion and service to those in need.
We would also like to thank all of our partners in this ministry. By striving to do God’s works, we can change our communities for the better and carry on a legacy of service and Christ’s love.
