Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival kicks off with a month-long showcase of over 30 livestreamed concerts and worship services. Engage with the performances of more than 250 talented students, faculty, and guest artists at LSMacademy.org/2024. Notably, this year includes a special intergenerational rendition of J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion, presented by the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM).
Augsburg Fortress Summer Music Clinics are also on the horizon, offering free educational opportunities for church musicians. Clinics are scheduled across various states including Minnesota, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois from July 16 through August 10. These sessions are led by renowned clinicians David Cherwien and Mark Sedio, providing invaluable insights and skills development.
Additionally, resources like the Love and Faithfulness: A Marriage Planning Handbook and the Assembly Song Companion to All Creation Sings offer deep dives into the theology and practice of Lutheran worship. Whether planning a wedding or leading congregation songs, these resources equip you with the knowledge to enrich your ministry.
For those looking to integrate music more profoundly into their community, Music that Makes Community (MMC) hosts several events including a one-day singing workshop in Atlanta, Georgia on July 13. This workshop, led by notable community music leaders, is an excellent opportunity to learn about transformative communal singing practices.
