About the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated choir director to provide musical guidance and direction to our choir members and congregation. Reports to the Pastor and the Worship and Music Ministry team.
Responsibilities: • Participate in the planning of worship, including hymn or song selections and choir selections with the pastor.
• Lead congregation in learning unfamiliar songs and hymns.
• Hold weekly choir rehearsals and direct choir (mid August – Pentecost).
• Recruit new choir members and instrumentalists as appropriate.
• Attend Worship and Music Ministry team meetings as scheduled.
• Participate in planning special services as needed.
• Submit service information weekly to the accompanist and the church office for publication.
• Determine and submit annual budget requirements.
Candidate requirements:
• Demonstrate knowledge of Lutheran theology, liturgical practice and use of music in worship.
• Experience and competency directing choirs.
• Ability to work well with others and participate collegially with staff members, the pastor and congregation leaders.
• Competency at building worship service for projection system and sound equipment.
• Be available for Christmas Eve, Advent and mid-weekly Lenten services, Holy Week services and Easter Sunday.
