Music - Mexican melody

Lyrics (español):
Tras hermoso lucero los magos
Viajaban pensando al palacio llegar,
Y llevaban regalos preciosos

Ovejas y vieron y gran resplandor,

Lyrics (English):
Eastern sages set out for a palace, they thought to a palace arrive,
And they carried precious gifts to the king they wanted adore,
When they came to Bethlehem what a wonder, then they came to Bethlehem see the star, with its light illuminated the stable, and there in the hay, the great king slept.

In the fields shepherds cared sheep and saw a great brilliance, but the angel from heaven said to them: I give you good news, today, the savior was born!
Many beautiful angels were singing, to Jesus, to the eternal they praised,
The shepherds searched for the child, and there in the hay the great king slept.

The three wise men offered to the Jesus child rich gifts with great devotion,
The humble shepherds gave to him, affection in tender and faithful heart.
Me too, oh Jesus today I'm approaching, me too, oh Jesus today I adore you,
And I offer you my life, as a gift of love; make in it your throne my King!

A Singing Communion of Churches

During this Advent season, LWF member churches are sharing hymns from their congregations to show how the Lutheran communion regions prepare for Christ’s coming into this world.

We want to use this period to reflect on and celebrate the diversity, uniqueness and oneness of God’s gifts to us. Follow the #lwfadvent calendar lutheranworld.org/advent-hymns

Martin Luther wrote:

I would certainly like to praise music with all my heart as the excellent gift of God which it is and to commend it to everyone. . . it has been instilled and implanted in all creatures, individually and collectively. For nothing is without sound or harmony. Even the air…
