2020 Synod Assembly rescheduled to September 17 & 18, 2020
On Saturday, March 28, 2020 the Grand Canyon Synod Council met, via Zoom, to discuss postponement of our Synod Assembly. Because the GCS Constitution stipulates an annual assembly, the event could not be cancelled. The Council voted unanimously to postpone the Synod Assembly to September 17-18, 2020. The Assembly will be held at Community Lutheran Church in Las Vegas, Nevada, and accommodations will be at Sunset Station in Henderson, Nevada.
Previously completed Assembly reservations will be moved to the September dates. You need do nothing further. However, if you would prefer a refund, or need to make any other changes to your reservation, please contact the Synod office.
The deadline for new Early Bird registrations is July 31, 2020.
For those who made hotel reservations, Sunset Station will cancel reservations and refund the guests first night’s room and tax deposit. They will do this once we have a new agreement in place. The guest will then need to make a new reservation for the revised dates once we receive the new group code. We will send the information when we have it available.
While the current global situation may affect these plans in the coming months, we are looking forward to, and planning for, being “church together” hopefully very soon. Meanwhile, please do not hesitate to contact the Synod Office with any additional questions regarding the Assembly.
The election of the Synod Council members and others will be postponed. All other newly elected persons will begin their terms at the adjournment of the Assembly in September. New deadlines for the submission of resolutions, assembly materials and registration will be announced soon.
