Thank You, Deacon Katie: Supporting Congregations Through Transition

This year has been one of tremendous change and growth for the Grand Canyon Synod, and we owe a heartfelt thanks to Deacon Katie Kline, our Interim Director for Congregation Transition, for her extraordinary leadership and support.

Deacon Katie brings a collaborative spirit to her role, working alongside the Rocky Mountain Synod and the Grand Canyon Synod to guide congregations through times of transition. Her work includes overseeing transition processes, coordinating with coaches, consultants, and interim leaders, and ensuring congregations receive the support they need during pivotal moments.

In addition to her role with us, Deacon Katie serves a congregation in Fort Collins, Colorado, and contributes to the Excellence in Leadership program’s Leadership Team. Her deep passion for cultivating healthy and flourishing leaders—both lay and ordained—is rooted in her research at Luther Seminary, where she earned her MA in Leadership and Innovation for Ministry.

Deacon Katie’s experience is wide-ranging, including time with ELCA Global Mission in Colombia, where she accompanied the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia in leadership development and Christian education. With a BA in Sociology, Psychology, and Gender Studies from Augustana University, Deacon Katie’s diverse background informs her thoughtful and compassionate approach to ministry.

The Grand Canyon Synod has been truly blessed by Deacon Katie’s guidance during this busy year of transition. Her dedication and expertise have strengthened our synod, helping congregations navigate change with grace and purpose. Please join us in thanking Deacon Katie for her faithful service and incredible partnership.
