Lutheran Schools Week: March 6-12, 2022

Lutheran Schools Week is March 6-12, 2022, and the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association (ELEA) shares information and resources on their website. In this post we also share a letter from Cory Newman, Executive Director of the ELEA.

I ask you to please find a way to share, support, advocate and/or participate in Lutheran Schools Week, March 6-12.  As the message in our 2021-22 ELCA Schools and Learning Centers Devotion Guide states: "As ELEA and as a ministry of the ELCA we are “rooted together in Christ”  and we will continue to persevere in our roles and responsibilities, to be a shining and inspiring example of faith-filled leadership and Lutheran education amidst ever-changing environments."  

Rev. Paul Waterman, ELEA Board and Elim Lutheran Church Pastor, shares in our LSW resources that "Lutheran Schools have been a part of the ministry of Lutheran Churches for many years. As a pastor, one aspect of my mission in ministry is to equip and empower the saints for ministry. As a part of a Lutheran school, you are a partner in the mission and ministry of loving God and loving neighbor. You are living out this vocation in your daily work. You don’t do this work alone—this work is a shared endeavor with your local community and the wider expressions of the church (synod and churchwide ministries).  

The materials for the Lutheran Schools Week provide connections to be made with your children, families, staff, and congregation. The information [provided] is the product of collaborative and creative partnerships through members of the ELEA Board. This year’s theme — “Persevere: Rooted Together in Christ,”  [considers]the time, space, and people needed to incorporate Lutheran Schools Week into all our partner organizations. This is designed to be a resource for you and your staff, as youcelebrate the joy of Lutheran Schools with your colleagues around the country.

I ask that you review these materials and plan to include LSW into your weekly ministry in some way during the week of March 6-12th.  The support of this vital ministry will only help strengthen relationships and engage the diverse families and children of our ELCA Schools and Learning Centers into our Congregations; living into Church and School Together!
