Located in beautiful Oro Valley, just north of Tucson, AZ.

The Handbell and Children/Youth Choir Director will lead both the handbell choir and the children/youth choir at rehearsals and when scheduled to perform at services and special events. The Director will choose music that supports the liturgy and church season, but primarily enhances Resurrection Lutheran Church’s (RLC) mission to bring glory to God through music.

Responsibilities:

  1. Directs the handbell choir and the children/youth choir during worship services and special performances approximately once a month.

  2. Leads members of handbell and children/youth choirs in weekly rehearsals.

  3. Plans, selects and purchases music for handbell and children/youth choirs of appropriate difficulty. Music for the handbell choir must be appropriate for scripture, special church occasions and for the season when possible.

  4. Plans and organizes the Christmas Eve family service. Recruits children/youth to participate. Oversees the logistics of the children’s participation.

SKILLS AND TALENTS:

1.    A clear testimony of faith and a vital, personal and growing relationship with Christian beliefs evidenced by attitude and behavior.

2.    Knowledge, skill and ability in teaching and directing handbell choirs and children/youth choirs.

3.    Knowledge of effective rehearsal techniques.

5.    Ability to work independently, reliably and to prioritize tasks.

6.    Ability to create positive working relations with a diverse group of people.

7.    Ability to read music and be a capable vocalist.

8.    Instrumental skills on piano preferred.
