Farewell and Godspeed to Pastor Mark Holman

We give thanks for the work of Rev. Mark Holman, who for the last two years has served as the Bishop’s Associate for Mobility and Leadership. At the end of 2020, Pastor Holman will attempt retirement for the third time.

During his time with the Office of the Bishop, Pastor Holman worked in transition ministry, assisting when pastors retired or calling a new pastor., He formed the interim pastor network and worked with collaborative ministry endeavors across our synod, and assisted Bishop Hutterer in matters of congregation conflict.

He and his wife Marcia split their time between Mesa, Arizona, and Duluth, Minnesota. Together they enjoy international and domestic travel, any sport that requires a racquet or paddle, entertaining, and photography.

Mark has enjoyed ministry in the contexts of parish life, chaplaincy, global missions, and administrative work with the ELCA & Lutheran Service in America. His greatest joys in ministry come through participating in the Spirit's work of healing and bringing new life to individuals, families, and congregations. His patient ear, calm demeanor, and humor and smile will be missed.

Gracious God, we thank you for the work and witness of your servant Rev. Mark Holman, who has enriched this community and brought gladness to friends and family. Now bless and preserve him and his wife Marcia at this time of transition. Day by day, guide them and give them what is needed, friends to cheer their way, and a clear vision of that to which you are now calling them. By your Holy Spirit be present in their pilgrimage, that they may travel with the one who is the way, the truth, and the life, Jesus Christ our Lord.
— Amen.
