Community Lutheran Celebration choir plays Carnegie Hall
The Community Lutheran Celebration choir (Las Vegas) was invited by Distinctive Concerts International New York (DCINY) to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The 79 singers from the CLC choir joined seven other church choirs from six states and a province of Canada to perform the music of composer and director Pepper Choplin.
The 275 combined voices were joined by a full orchestra on the stage of the famous music hall on Sunday May 26th, 2019. The hour long performance was a highlight for all the participants. “We were honored to be invited. We worked hard to learn the music, and we were awed by the experience of singing in such a historic setting,” CLC choir director Bruce Ewing was quoted as saying.
“I was thrilled to be part of the choir and it was a great way to end my tenure as Senior Pastor of CLC,” said Dr. Mark Wickstrom, who is retiring on June 16, 2019. A lifetime worth of memories were created for all the singers and the family members and friends who chose to attend the concert in the storied Isaac Stern Auditorium.
