Life Experiences: During my time as a Human Resources representative, I facilitated difficult conversations between supervisors/managers and employees. I had to remain calm, objective, ask tough, clarifying questions and listen to the experiences of each person.
In my current vocation as a financial advisor, I work with clients on their goal achievement. I ask questions so I can better understand their objectives, help lay out a plan to achieve those objective and work towards keeping them accountable. This involves being an active listener, both to what they are saying as well as their non-verbal communication.
My experiences of serving in leadership in both a congregational and synodical setting has given me insight into both expressions of the church. I have also been involved in updating congregational constitutions and was able to attend a churchwide assemble when major updates were being made to the model constitutions. This has given me a good understanding of the document/framework that guides our denominational decisions.
