As we reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s enduring vision of justice, unity, and diversity, the Grand Canyon Synod invites you to gather with us for a special Celebration of Diversity event on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 3-5 pm. This event, held at two locations within our synod, honors Dr. King’s legacy and invites us to come together as a diverse, faith-rooted community committed to love and justice.
This year, we’re hosting the event at two churches:
King of Glory Lutheran Church (2085 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282)
Preacher: Bishop Yehiel Curry of the Metropolitan Chicago SynodBe Part of the Celebration of Diversity Choir at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Tempe. Rehearsals begin January 4, and all vocalists are welcome to participate in this inspiring service featuring gospel-style music and a message from Bishop Yehiel Curry. Sign up today to be part of this unforgettable tribute at Sign-Up Genius.
Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (6670 W Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89108)
Keynote: Elder Ender Austin, III, from the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), with special music from Rick Arroyo and the musicians of Holy Spirit Lutheran in Las Vegas.
Each location will provide a unique opportunity for worship, reflection, and community gathering, allowing us to celebrate our shared commitment to justice and diversity as people of faith.
Save the date and plan to join us for an inspiring afternoon that brings to life Dr. King’s call to love and inclusion. Whether in Tempe or Las Vegas, we hope you’ll join us in honoring his legacy and renewing our collective commitment to equality and unity.
Mark your calendars now—more details to come. We look forward to celebrating with you!
