As the 2024 election approaches, emotions run high, and our communities feel the weight of hope, fear, anxiety, and exhaustion. Amidst the noise of campaign ads and social media debates, there is a call for peace, unity, and prayer. Recognizing the need for spiritual support during this critical time, leaders from several Christian denominations, including the ELCA, have come together to organize a series of prayer vigils leading up to the election. These monthly prayer vigils are more than just gatherings; they are a powerful witness that, despite our differences, Christians can unite in faith and purpose. The vigils will be held at various locations across Arizona, offering a space for individuals from all denominations to come together in prayer for our nation, for the election process, and for peace.

The ecumenical nature of these vigils is a testament to the unity that can be found in diversity. Leaders from the ELCA, United Methodist Church, Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, Disciples Church, United Church of Christ, and Presbyterian Church have all committed to this cause. They may not agree on every political or theological issue, but they share a common faith and a desire to embody the love of Christ through actions of peace-building rather than division.
These vigils are an invitation for all to come together, to set aside differences, and to pray for our nation and its people. Join us in this profound witness to the power of prayer and the unity we find in Christ.
Call to Action: We invite everyone to participate in these vigils, regardless of denomination, to pray for peace, for our nation, and for the integrity of our democratic process. Let us stand together as a community of faith, united in prayer and committed to loving our neighbors.
