The Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association is hosting an enlightening event titled "How Loneliness Influences Health and What Nurses Can Do to Help" on March 14, 2024. This session is not only for nurses but for anyone interested in understanding the impacts of loneliness on health and exploring actionable ways to mitigate these effects within our communities. Loneliness, a condition known to elicit biopsychosocial stress responses leading to poor health outcomes, affects various populations, including children, the elderly, women during the perinatal period, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Laurie Theeke, an expert in loneliness and its health implications, will lead the discussion, offering insights into interventions that can be implemented, particularly in faith communities.
The event aims to enhance our understanding of loneliness as a health stressor, explore the concept of belonging, discuss risks for special populations, and introduce potential interventions for loneliness. Scheduled from 5-7 pm MT, the session calls for a registration fee of $30 for LFCNA members and $50 for non-members, with 2.0 nursing contact hours provided. This is a unique opportunity to learn from Dr. Theeke's extensive experience in loneliness research and practice, particularly her development of LISTEN, an intervention designed to target loneliness.
For those interested in participating, register through the Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association's website and join us in creating more inclusive and supportive environments for all, especially the lonely among us.
