Kick-Start a Child's School Year Right with the LSSN Back-to-School Resource Fair

This is the time of year that Lutheran Social Services of Nevada starts gearing up for their back to school events. They share the following from their latest newsletter…

We want every child to have an opportunity to be set up for a good school year with all of the supplies and resources that they need! School supplies are just the starting point. At our Back-to-School Resource Fair, we will have a smorgasbord of resources including the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile doing dental screenings, Dr's Kopolow & Girisgen will be here doing vision testing, Dad's Inc specializes in mentorship, DFS will be recruiting Foster families, Anthem will be sponsoring the event and setting people up with health insurance. Last year we served serve 823 children with our Back to School events. This year, with your help, we would like to serve a thousand or more. These are four ways to get involved:

Collect

We need school supplies, collection sites, and advocates that can help us mobilize the masses using word of mouth, social media, and business offices. We are collecting crayons, scissors, washable markers, and any other type of school supply you can imagine. If you would like, we can give you a bin like the one below to make collections even easier! We already have ten businesses collecting such as CKR Financial, Roberts Stoffel Family Law, Intentional Healings, and the Home Depot.

Partner

Can your organization or group provide a resource at our Back-to-School Event on August 4th? Email martin@lssnv.org.

Volunteer

Can you or your group volunteer on August 4th? The event will be from 8:30 am to 1pm. We are looking for people that can do face painting, art projects, chaperone the bounce house, etc. (Arrival time 8:30am). To volunteer please email martin@lssnv.org.

Give

Would you consider sponsoring this event? We are buying backpacks in bulk for $8 per backpack to make sure we have enough supplies for everyone. We are already at halfway to our goal ($3000 of $6000)! Thanks to Anthem and two other very generous donors!
