Grace Lutheran in Phoenix starts heat respite program

The mission of Grace Lutheran Church during the summer months is to provide a space for heat relief while building community through the sharing of community resources, meals, water, and ourselves in a place of being, belonging, and becoming.

From June 7, 2021 until August 27, 2021, Monday through Friday, 9am–5pm, Grace will open the courtyard for our community.

Heat Respite participants can enjoy:

  • Snacks & cold water daily

  • Daily sack lunch distribution

  • Warm cooked meals on Fridays

  • Clothing & hygiene

  • Activities: games, movies, music & more! 

With continued support, people in need can count on clothing and hygiene assistance, shower and laundry services, assistance with researching job/shelter opportunities, as well as other personal enrichment, health, and human connections!

Volunteer positions are available immediately!

  • Morning Setup (Monday-Friday 9:00 am-11:00 am)

  • Sack Lunch Preparation (Monday -Friday 11:30 am-12:30 pm)

  • Sack Lunch Distribution (Monday-Friday 12:30 pm-1:30 pm)

  • Hope Hall Attendant (Monday-Friday 9:00 am-12:30 pm or 12:30 pm-4:00 pm)

  • Activity Assistance

  • Clean Up Crew (Monday-Friday 3:00 pm-5:00)

Donations Needed:

  • Men’s Jeans (sizes 30-38)

  • Men’s t-shirts

  • Backpacks
