Celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the Grand Canyon Synod at the our first Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Service. This inspirational gathering will take place on January 14, 2024, at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Tempe, AZ.
The event is not just a service but a commitment to embodying Dr. King's vision, encouraging active engagement in nonviolent practices and the continuous effort to build a beloved community across Arizona and Nevada.
From 2-3 pm, immerse yourself in a worship experience honoring Dr. King, followed by an hour of hospitality and dialogue from 3-4 pm.
We are honored to have Rev. Lamont Wells—Executive Director, Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities—as our guest preacher, with Bishop Deborah Hutterer presiding over the service. Attendees will also be treated to special musical performances that echo the themes of unity and peace championed by Dr. King.
