Resurrection Lutheran in Oro Valley seeks publications specialist

Resurrection Lutheran in Oro Valley is looking for a full-time Publications Specialist to produce printed materials and digital resources for worship services, newsletters, and slides.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Publications Specialist is a part of the Communications team, producing printed materials and digital resources that disseminates key information that supports church ministries and motivates others to participate in the life and mission of Resurrection Lutheran Church (RLC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops, designs and produces in-house publications and multimedia presentations that are consistent with the mission of RLC. This includes such communications as bulletins and slides for worship services, pre-service projections and announcements as well as annual reports, inserts, booklets, flyers, brochures and various special printed material.
2. Ensures copyright compliance for the use of all printed and projected materials.
3. Designs and creates RLC’s monthly newsletter, The Vision, and the weekly flyer, This Week. Creates layout, produces finished product, prints, distributes and disseminates appropriately.
4. Ensures high-quality materials with a high value on accuracy.
5. Adapts written text to match standardized format.
6. Maintains physical and digital files of printed materials and related content.
7. Demonstrates clear communication, brand presence and consistency.
8. Ensures timely printing, assembly, and distribution.
9. Coordinates with the Content Manager to ensure deadlines are met, final products meet standards and are disseminated appropriately.
10. Participates as appropriate in brainstorming sessions and team meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or Graphic Design or equivalent years of experience.
2. Minimum of three years of experience in graphic design and multimedia.
3. Work experience in a church or non-profit preferred.

SKILLS AND TALENTS:
1. A clear testimony of faith and a vital, personal and growing relationship with Christian beliefs evidenced by attitude and behavior. Familiarity with the liturgy of Christian worship.
2. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including strong copywriting, highly detailed proofing of written material, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
3. Understands printing and publication standards and procedures.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Publisher, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), ProPresenter and HTML. .
5. Flexible self-starter able to coordinate several tasks simultaneously while also being highly detail oriented.
6. Ability to meet deadlines.
7. Ability to learn and adapt to new software and technology quickly.
8. Ability to create positive working relations with a diverse group of people and volunteers, including gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, culture and skill level differences.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Must be available to work variable hours including weekends and evenings.
a. Employees are expected to attend either a Saturday evening service or a Sunday morning service a minimum of six (6) times a year to engage with the congregation.
b. Employees are expected to be available for services and special events during Holy Week and Christmas Week.
c. Employees are encouraged to be available for special events including but not limited to Fall Festival, Synod Assembly (when hosted by RLC) and Installations.
2. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
3. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
4. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
5. No adverse environmental conditions expected.
