Peanut Butter Wars: A Friendly Battle Against Food Insecurity in Las Vegas

The annual Peanut Butter Wars have begun, rallying the Las Vegas community, including churches and local businesses, to combat food insecurity. The competition, which started on July 1st and will run until midnight on August 5th, 2024, encourages participants to donate as much peanut butter as possible to support the pantry services of Lutheran Social Services of Nevada (LSSN).

This year’s ambitious goal is to raise $25,000 and gather 10,000 pounds of peanut butter, with all proceeds directed towards enhancing LSSN’s pantry services and other initiatives to provide fresh, nutrient-rich foods to those in need. The current leader in donations is Robert Stoffel Family Law, with an impressive 923 pounds, followed closely by Beegi AI Company.

The coveted Peanut Trophy awaits the group that collects the most peanut butter by weight. Additionally, there will be a special award for any group breaking the record set by Community Lutheran Church at 4,696 pounds.

Participation is straightforward:

  • Email Martin at martin@lssnv.org to register your group.

  • Collect and donate peanut butter, which LSSN will weigh for an official tally.

  • •Financial contributions can also be made, with each dollar counting as three pounds towards your total.

Moreover, spread the word and encourage other groups to join the cause. Stay tuned for updates and challenges on LSSN’s Facebook page and don’t forget to use the hashtag #peanutbutterwars while sharing your progress.

Together, we can make a significant impact on fighting hunger in our community. Join us in this delightful and impactful campaign, and let’s make a difference with every jar!
