Open Call to Faithful Arizonans: Be a Poll Worker in 2022

Protect the Vote in Arizona

RSVP for Poll Monitor Training & Poll Worker Introduction via Zoom. Click a date to RSVP: July 13th, 14th, 19th, and 23rd, 2022.

This workshop will be given by the Election Protection AZ Partners: All Voting is Local, Arizona Democracy Resource Center, and Native Vote.

Where: Zoom! When you RSVP you'll receive an email from Taylor Moss with the Zoom link and dial-in number.

During this training you'll receive directions on how to get an assignment for Poll Monitoring on Election Day, and/or Poll Working at any point during the voting period. Contact Taylor Moss at taylor@azdrc.org if you have any questions.

Every voter who wants to cast their ballot, should be able to do so. That means our community members need to feel safe enough to make their voices heard at the polls, in a state that has historically ignored them. So join the Election Protection Arizona team, and play an integral part in holding your community in strength and compassion this voting season.

Signing up for this training is an easy way for you to help! We'll be sharing everything you need to know in order to be a friendly face at the polls, and help voters overcome any barriers they may face. Poll Monitors are the volunteer eyes and ears on the ground outside voting sites on Election Day to help voters in the moment, and to report incidents ranging from poor accessibility of the site to outright intimidation. Poll Workers are the paid folks inside the voting sites during the Early Voting period and on Election Day who check voters in and assist with their ballots. We are hosting this training because we need the people filling both of these roles to have an understanding of Arizona’s election law, and the barriers that voters can face. We are the helpers our communities deserve!

From ELCA Votes:

We are called to conversation and prayer around our role as U.S. residents and as people of faith in ensuring our election systems promote dignity and respect for all.

We are called to act by speaking out as advocates and engaging in local efforts to guarantee the right to vote to all citizens.

ELCAvotes is an initiative:

  • expanding the role of the church in encouraging faithful and nonpartisan voter participation by providing faith-based resources around voting

  • providing a framework for all Lutherans to understand and speak out about the intersection of voting and elections and racial, gender and economic justice

  • amplifying the voices of young-adult leaders in the church and providing a platform for young adults to explore what it means to be a civically engaged person of faith

  • engaging with and equipping ethnic communities to talk about voting rights and race and their connection with elections today

“[It is] resolved, that members, congregations, and synods of this church be encouraged to “promote public life worthy of the name” by speaking out as an advocate and engaging in local efforts such as voter registration and supporting legislation to guarantee the right to vote to all citizens …”
