Lutheran World Relief: We're all in on Ukraine

We share a letter from Ambassador Daniel Speckhard, President and CEO of Lutheran World Relief, encouraging emergency gifts to deliver urgent support and care.

We also share a message from Rev. Lisa Kipp, with Lutheran World Relief’s Congregational Engagement, announcing that Nelsonville Lutheran Church in Wisconsin will double all gifts from congregations – up to $100,000 – for our neighbors suffering in the Ukraine crisis. You can give online at www.lwr.org/match.

Daniel Speckhard Letter

Dear Friend,

Although the situation in Ukraine is changing every day, I have an update for you on our response efforts.

Right now, our teams are working with partners in and around Ukraine. Your emergency gift today will deliver urgent support and care, like:

  • Food, shelter and other critically needed items

  • Mission Quilts and Kits for families who fled their homes

  • Medicine and supplies for clinics

I can’t stress this enough. Every second counts here. With so many families displaced, and so many surrounding regions at risk from the ripple effects of this situation, we cannot wait. We must act now to help families.

We are committed to responding to the needs of the people of Ukraine. Your love, and your gift today, will reach families affected by this crisis.

I will continue to keep you updated on the situation as it unfolds. Please keep praying with us – and please reach out to neighbors in need with an emergency gift.

In Faith,

Ambassador Daniel Speckhard
President and CEO, Lutheran World Relief

P.S. We are committed to responding to the needs of families affected by this crisis, until your love reaches every neighbor. Please keep praying with us – and please reach out to neighbors in need with an emergency gift.

Greetings from Lutheran World Relief! Could you please share this information with your congregations?

Lutheran World Relief received tremendous news this week: Nelsonville Lutheran Church in Wisconsin will double all gifts from congregations – up to $100,000 – for our neighbors suffering in the Ukraine crisis. Right now, Lutheran World Relief teams are working with partners in and around Ukraine. Your congregation’s gift will deliver urgent support and care, like: food, shelter and other critically needed items; Mission Quilts and Kits for families who fled their homes; and medicine and supplies for clinics.

Gifts will be matched through March 15. You can give online at www.lwr.org/match or by mailing to LWR, PO Box 17061, Baltimore, MD 21297-1061. Please write “Ukraine Match” in the memo line.

Thank you for your partnership in ministry. May God bless you as you begin your Lenten journey today.
