Lutheran Disaster Response, an integral part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), is teaming up with Lutheran World Relief to extend crucial assistance in newly liberated areas of Ukraine. Together, they are launching the Supporting Farmers to Restore Resilient Livelihoods in Kharkiv (SPARRK) project, backed by a $1 million grant.

This collaboration is set to touch the lives of over 7,000 families in Kharkiv Oblast, providing them with the necessary support to restore or establish small farms, prepare for the winter season, and rebuild their lives. From material resources like seeds, tools, and farm equipment to technical guidance in small-scale farming and winterization preparedness, the project offers comprehensive aid.

Apart from farming support, SPARRK will also cater to urgent humanitarian needs, including the distribution of hygiene kits and medical supplies to local health centers. As a beacon of hope and resilience, the initiative stands as a testament to the Lutheran commitment to long-term recovery, healing, and reconstruction in a war-affected region.
