We are excited to announce the launch of Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona’s new book club, “Book Time with LAMA,” starting Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. This club is designed to provide a safe and open space for conversation on various social justice topics that concern us daily. We plan to meet monthly, tentatively on the third Wednesday at noon, and we invite our audience to suggest titles and facilitate these enriching lunch-and-learn conversations.

Our first book selection is I Think You’re Wrong (But I’m Listening): A Guide to Grace-Filled Political Conversations by Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers. Pastor Kaila Armbruster of Crossroads Lutheran, San Tan Valley, will facilitate the discussion. This book, written by two working moms from opposite ends of the political spectrum, teaches us how to engage in respectful, nuanced, and grace-filled political discussions.

In a time when political discord is rampant, I Think You’re Wrong (But I’m Listening) offers tools to:

• Respect the dignity of every person

• Recognize the complexity of issues beyond political talking points

Join Sarah from the left and Beth from the right as they demonstrate that people with opposing views can have calm and respectful conversations.
