Inside Out Network: Empowering Second Chances in Arizona and Beyond
The latest Inside Out Network (ION) newsletter is here, offering a glimpse into the vital work of reentry programs across Arizona, Oregon, and beyond. Whether it’s men inside Arizona’s prisons training as Reentry Preparation Specialists, partnerships with organizations like Second Chance Center, or innovative digital tools helping returning citizens connect with resources, ION is making an impact.
One highlight is the Men in Orange initiative, where incarcerated individuals are stepping up to help others navigate the challenges of reentry. These peer mentors—men who understand firsthand what it means to rebuild life after incarceration—are key to ION’s expanding work inside prison libraries, helping others access critical reentry services.
The newsletter also features the Color Me Yellow 2024 campaign, which raised over $40,000 for ION’s mission, despite some unexpected funding setbacks. Meanwhile, in Oregon, the number of returning citizens registering for ION services continues to grow, and a new Oregon Resource Network is set to launch soon, further strengthening connections between job seekers and service providers.
For congregations wondering how they can support reentry ministries, the newsletter introduces eight distinct models for churches to engage with returning citizens—whether through mentoring, job training, addiction recovery, or family support. A soon-to-be-released guide will help ordinary congregations find their role in this important work.
There’s much more to explore, from state-by-state updates to thought-provoking reading recommendations. Read the full Winter 2025 Inside Out Network Newsletter online here or download the PDF here.
As we reflect on the stories of transformation and resilience shared in this issue, let’s also consider our own role. How can we, as individuals and faith communities, offer hope and support to those returning home?
