First of all, thank you!! Because of your generosity, the Grand Canyon Synod is able to offer the GCS Grants Program, which is unique to our synod and just one example of your benevolence dollars going back to congregations to share for the sake of ministry and mission. This year’s grant window opens on September 13 and grant applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 15. Information regarding the types of grants offered, award amounts, application forms, timeline, and allowable expenses is available on our website

Applying for grants may seem overwhelming, but we’ve simplified the process and we are here to help! On Tuesday, September 7 at 5:00 p.m., we will be offering a Grants Process Presentation by Zoom. This will be a great opportunity to get an overview of the program, ask questions, and get some helpful tips from the GCS Grants Committee on submitting a grant application. Please register here for the presentation.

So please, talk to your congregations and encourage them to apply for a Grand Canyon Synod grant and attend the informational presentation on September 7. There are so many wonderful stories of ministry and mission throughout the synod that deserve support. Like last year, priority funding will be given to projects that seek to mitigate the effects of the current pandemic. Examples include but are not limited to: food insecurity, unemployment, homelessness, health inequities, production of online worship opportunities, etc. Grant proposals that propose a collaboration with another ELCA ministry and align with the Grand Canyon Synod Strategic Plan will be given preferential consideration.

So again, thank you for making this program possible!
