Transform Your Faith Community: Join the Free “Being a Dementia Friendly Congregation” Event on Nov. 20

As people of faith, we are called to support and care for all members of our community, especially those experiencing challenges like dementia. The Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association (LFCNA) invites you to a special free educational event, Being a Dementia Friendly Congregation, designed to equip congregations to become places of understanding and support for individuals and families affected by dementia.

The event will take place on November 20, 2024, at 12:30 pm AKT, 1:30 pm PT, 2:30 pm MT, 3:30 pm CT, 4:30 pm ET via Zoom. The program will help participants better understand dementia and provide practical strategies to support those affected. Led by Janice Greeno, Senior Outreach Program Manager at Banner Sun Health Research Institute and Dementia Friendly Arizona State Lead, this session is an opportunity for you to become a “Dementia Friend” and begin transforming your congregation into a dementia-friendly community.

In this one-hour event, you’ll:

  • Learn three key characteristics of dementia.

  • Discover how dementia affects individuals and their caregivers.

  • Gain two actionable strategies to provide support in your congregation.

Following the educational session, LFCNA will hold its Annual Membership Meeting, which is open to all. Non-members may choose to leave the meeting at the end of the program.

Register now to secure your spot and receive the Zoom link: LFCNA Event Registration. There is no cost for this event, but registration is required to receive the Zoom details. One contact hour is available for nurses who attend the full session and complete an evaluation form.

Let’s come together as a community of faith, empowered by understanding, compassion, and action. This program is more than an educational opportunity—it’s a chance to make a meaningful difference.
