As people of faith, we are called to actively engage in the world, advocating for justice, caring for creation, and fostering interfaith relationships. This February, the Arizona Faith Network (AFN) and our partners are hosting a variety of opportunities for learning, advocacy, and action. Here are some key events you won’t want to miss:

Lutheran Day at the Legislature

📅 Monday, February 10 | 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM

📍 Arizona Capitol, Wesley Bolin Plaza

Every year, Lutherans gather to speak with legislators about issues that matter. Last year, more than 125 Lutherans advocated for justice, creation care, and human dignity. This year, we’ll continue that work by engaging with lawmakers on the Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona’s (LAMA) 2025 policy priorities. Register today to be part of this important day of faithful advocacy.

Environmental Day at the Capitol

📅 Wednesday, February 12 | 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM

📍 Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza, Phoenix, AZ

Lutherans are called to be stewards of creation. Join faith and environmental leaders for a day of advocacy at the Arizona Capitol, where you’ll meet legislators, hear from expert speakers, and connect with groups working to protect Arizona’s natural resources. Bus transportation is available from Tucson.

AFN Social Justice Commission Meeting

📅 Thursday, February 6 | 8:30 - 9:30 AM (Online via Zoom)

Guest speakers Beth Strano and Janine Gelsinger from Borderlands Resource Initiative will provide updates on recent federal and state immigration policies. A crucial discussion for those engaged in faith-based advocacy for immigrants and asylum seekers.

Cherishing Creation Collaborative (CCC) Meeting

📅 Tuesday, February 11 | 10:00 - 11:30 AM (Online via Zoom)

Faith communities play a vital role in environmental stewardship. Join this virtual meeting to explore how your congregation can integrate climate advocacy and sustainability into ministry.

Weave and Cleave Breakfast – Building Communities of Belonging

📅 Thursday, February 13 | 7:30 - 11:00 AM

📍 First Christian Church, Phoenix, AZ

This free interfaith gathering brings together movement leaders, experts, and community members for meaningful dialogue on inclusion and belonging.

3rd Annual Connection to Nature Event

📅 Saturday, February 22 | 12:00 - 2:00 PM

📍 Foothills Christian Church, Glendale, AZ

Celebrate our call to care for creation with a family-friendly afternoon of crafts, games, animal encounters, and enrichment presentations from local environmental organizations.

World Interfaith Harmony Week (Feb 1-7)

Each year, the United Nations recognizes World Interfaith Harmony Week to foster unity across religious traditions. At a time of division, this week reminds us that our faith calls us to build bridges of peace. Take a moment to reflect on how we can engage in dialogue and action toward a more just and compassionate world.

Black History Month

February is Black History Month, a time to recognize and honor the contributions of Black leaders in faith, justice, and advocacy. Stay engaged with events happening throughout Arizona to celebrate and learn.

These gatherings remind us that faith is active—it calls us to stand alongside our neighbors, advocate for justice, and care for creation. Whether through direct advocacy, learning opportunities, or community engagement, we encourage you to participate, reflect, and take action.
